Oh what a week!

With Supraja starting contractions in earnest early on Sunday morning, it seemed like we would finally have our new addition to our family later that day … worst case Monday.

About lunchtime on Sunday 13 Jan we decided this was the real thing and so I decided it was time to cut my losses at work and send the Pre-prepared ‘It’s good-bye from me …’ email. I’m pretty certain that everyone was glad to see the back of me after 5 days of asking for baby updates and why I was still turning up to meetings (because I’d handed over my projects and had nothing better to do).

But it was not to be just yet. As we sat in our small flat, with Supraja’s sisters and Mum busily trying to find something to do to help, the contractions stopped.  Somewhat concerned, we called the midwife who said:

well, just enjoy your afternoon then honey.

Supraja didn’t think much of that suggestion but convinced that we should do what we were told, Sravya and I pushed off to the pub.

So began an extra week of waiting.  This turned out to be pretty relaxed for me as I was not having contractions and did not have a  mini-meBefore Dr. Evil was sent back in time to 1969, his minions made him a clone. The clone was identical in every way, but he was one-eighth his size. Upon being introduced to his clone, Dr. Evil immediately declared, 'Breathtaking. I shall call him... Mini-Me'. unsuccessfully trying to get out of my belly.  The best thing to do when trying to bring on contractions is to keep moving, ably assisted by Dance Central and an XBox Kinect.

Keep moving with Kylie and a Kinect.

In summary the week proceeded thus:

Sunday – contractions

Monday – nothing (where have they gone?)

Tuesday – contractions again (here we go, maybe today is the day)

Wednesday – nothing (I’m sensing a pattern)

Thursday – contractions (oh blimey these feel like the real deal and broken waters)

Thursday morning – off to the hospital, oh wait, it’s all stopped. This is exhausting how about we just skip to the end it’s clear this baby isn’t coming out the old fashioned way.
