In line with all the parenting advice, we’ve been taking the time to prepare Nikhil for the arrival of a sibling. We did all the classic things, from reading books about brothers and sisters and talking to the belly, to giving him a present ‘from the baby’ when Nisha arrived. So far so good; he’s very affectionate and pleased with her. He loves to cuddle her and look at her. He gets upset when she cries and even helps out with nappy changes.
But one crucial thing we forgot to mention…..she can’t play with cars or trains. And that, in his mind, is an incomprehensible failing…..
